It’s that time again. The Call for Competitors is open for entries! Got skills in 2D, 3D, or Motion? You could be one of the designers selected to represent London in fast-paced, single-elimination rounds, each with a unique design theme and set time limit.

The annual global tournament is set to zip across 16 cities this year, hitting London on Saturday 4th April, and Cut&Paste is once again challenging designers from various backgrounds and nations across the map to dig deep and design their way into the spotlight.

Introducing 5 new cities, 2 new competition formats, and the first-ever Global Championship event. And with the addition of the new Show&Tell series while continuing our ever-popular Audience Design Contests, the 2009 tournament is one you won't want to miss. Get going and apply - deadline is 20th Feb.

Any good?

are these events any good? I'm not sure what the atmosphere would be like. What would you compare it too?

  • A Degree Show
  • A Sci-Fi Convention
  • Theatre
  • Concert
  • American sports game

just to help me get a handle on it...

I would compare it too...

... one of those 3 day LAN parties where people play war games to the virtual and probably often physical death. If your going, expect a lot of wacom tablets round the head and ninja disc cd's.

I haven't been so all the above could be completely wrong but looking on their website for a few minutes it is not too dissimilar from what I imagined:

"eight designers will go head to head in series of advancing 15-minute elimination rounds until one of those heads emerges with its rightful crown."

Might be good fun as a spectator, I don't think I have the speed skillz to win. Good luck to all those entering.
