I actually saw this via You Tube:

A robot with uncanny lifelike abilities. I was prompted to put this up by a colleague when we were talking about Tomorrow's World (TV program from 1965–2003) and wondered how many items would actually be around 'in the future'. I completely stole the At-At walker reference from somewhere (sorry, not sure who) but it's interesting how the At-At Walkers from Empire Strikes Back seem very amateur compared to this...

I know very little otherwise, but should probably quote their slogan: 'Dedicated to the science and art of how things move.'

We'd like you to rate a project for success in three different areas. Tick looks good if it is aesthetically pleasing, and tick works well if it is technically innovative. Most importantly tick performs effectively if you think it meets all of its professional objectives.

Obviously we don't really expect to see any work submitted that is no good, but you never know.

electro sumo

The way this thing moves makes me think of some weird, spindly, metallic sumo wrestlers pushing each other off into the distance.

I was particularly impressed when it righted itself as its makers tried to kick it over.
